An Evening with Ehren Jordan
Winemaker & Owner of FAILLA Winery
Sunday, March 7, 2010 ~ 6pm
The guest winemaker at this month's Tree Room dinner is distinguished by the authenticity of his wines.
When he began working in the wine industry, Ehren Jordan was a novice. But following years of experience with Joseph Phelps Winery and Jean-Luc Columbo in France, he was taken on by Neyers Vineyards and Turley Wine Cellars. His talent and passion continued to soar. After 15 years of experience, the one-time novice purchased land in Sonoma to build Failla Winery in 1998. Ten years later, the San Francisco Chronicle crowned him its Winemaker of the Year.
A consistent thread in Jordan's work is his determination to make wines that he feels are authentic. Using only indigenous yeasts and spontaneous fermentation, his work is centered on producing true Rhône-style Syrah, Chablis-like Chardonnay and Burgundian Pinot Noir. As Jordan coaxes the intrinsic nature from his grapes and their transformation to wines with integrity, chef Gras focuses on each ingredient's purity, defining his cuisine by the principles of flavor, aesthetics and harmonic perfection. Together, Jordan and Gras have assembled a harmonious progression of five-courses for your enjoyment.
